The "Happy Birthday To You" Song,
It celebrates the births of individuals. It not only offers the personal celebrating their birthday, but everyone celebrating an opportunity to reflect on their own lives in the past year. This song's melody is also used with other lyrics as as Good Morning to You, which some may recall. It was written sometime in the late 19th century, but apparently is still under copyright laws according to this site.
Regardless of the skepticism or accuracy of the legal aspects of this tune, we should considers the song's importance.
Let's consider that songs may be played, aired, sung, and heard every second around the world for many reasons. For the reason of singing this song, we must admit that it can be sung every second of everyday on this Earth.
"Do the Freddy" - Freddy and the Dreamers
Unchained Melody
In terms of popularity over the past century this one has been one of the most covered songs. It was a major hit after the movie Ghost. However, the most iconic singers of our time have covered the songs from Elvis, the Righteous Brothers, Willie Nelson and Fleetwood Mac. It continues to be a popular song for movies and even the mainstream music scene.
The alphabet song. Without it no one would know the their letters. Nearly every language has their own vesion of this song.
"This Land is Your Land," by Woody Guthrie, with its populism and socialism and its beautiful way of re-stating the Founders' words: We the People.
And Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," of course, insisting we open our eyes and see the horrors in front of us.
And John Lennon's "Imagine" which tells us to close our eyes, picture a place without those horrors, and start creating a new reality.
And Talking Heads' "Heaven":
When this kiss is over it will start again.
It will not be any different, it will be exactly the same.
It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
could be so exciting, could be this much fun.Heaven, Heaven is a place
a place where nothing, nothing ever happens.
Heaven, Heaven is a place
a place where nothing, nothing ever happens.
There is an eternity for nothing, so let's do something.
"We Didn't Start the Fire" by Bill Joel
War All the Time - Thursday
It seems more true every time i turn on the news.
The question itself holds a different meaning to us all. To Americans, the most important song ever written may not be the same song to a Frenchman, Polynesian or Russian. "Sikelele Africa" might be the most important song to a South African, while the song "Swing Low" might be as important to a Post Civil War native of South Carolina for similar reasons. They'll equate a series of emotions to Freedom. The song "Freedom" by George Micheal can be interpreted as an artist's will to be free of the commercial world, however, in or out of context the message is obvious, Freedom!. A person who identifies with a song need only be impacted by it once, but the effect is lifelong. Music is, as the expression goes, in the ear of the beholder, however, songs of Freedom and the concept of Liberty ring the loudest and are the most important.

"The most important song ever written" is a song I just made up with these lyrics.
This is the most important song ever written, oh
This is the most important song ever written, yeah
This is the most important song ever written, no doubt
This is the most important song ever written, yeah yeah yeah
This is the most important song ever written. do you disagree
This is the most important song ever written, well Now I'll end this song
And "why" is an adverb that shows for what cause, reason, or purpose.
Like a Rolling Stone--Bob Dylan--captured the angst of an entire generation.
i think that question is impossible to answer, at least for myself. i love a lot of different kinds of music, so it depends on the mood i'm in. there is so much good music and i have many favorites. i find new ones all the time. as for the most influential band of all time? the beatles. there will never be a band as influential as the beatles.
